Dr. Mona StepanskyWhen Dr. Mona went to graduate school, she had planned on becoming a college professor in childhood development. However, after learning about how few children get an accurate diagnosis for neurodevelopmental disorders (and consequently how many received inappropriate treatments), she knew she had to get involved in a more hands-on way.
Dr. Mona began her training in clinical assessment and pediatric neuropsychology as an extern at the University of Illinois – Chicago Medical Center and went on to receive her doctorate in clinical psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She finished her doctoral internship in neuropsychology at the North Shore Long Island Jewish Health System in New York and then completed an intensive post-doctoral fellowship at the Alexian Brothers Neurosciences Institute, where she stayed on staff for two years. She is one of the few board certified pediatric neuropsychologists in the state. Dr. Mona became a co-founder of BrainTree Neuropsychological Services in order to be completely devoted to comprehensive patient care. Having received the most extensive training possible in her field of work, Dr. Mona values the opportunity to work directly with children and their families through every step of the assessment process. Dr. Mona is a member of the American Psychological Association (Division 40 – Neuropsychology), National Academy of Neuropsychology, International Neuropsychological Society and Illinois Psychological Association. She has taught graduate students at Loyola University Chicago, and has guest lectured undergraduate students at DePaul University. She has co-authored several book chapters on the behavioral and emotional functioning of adolescents and co-authored journal articles on her research with youth with spina bifida. She has also presented at national conferences on the neuropsychological correlates of autism spectrum disorders. Tell Your Kids:
